Khalid Jamil cautious ahead of Bagan tie, says Mumbai FC must be at the top of their game

THE MUMBAI FC COACH Khalid Jamil acknowledged that a two day gap between important I-League matches is not enough for players to recover and train accordingly, but added that he wanted to take it in his stride.

Speaking to reporters in the pre-match press conference, Jamil said,

“There was not much time to train after the last match. Two days is not sufficient enough, but I am not complaining.”

Regarding the injury of attacking midfielder Taisuke Matsugae, who hurt his ankle during the match against DSK Shivajians, Jamil said,

“Taisuke is recovering well, but I will check his fitness during training later in the evening and then decide if he will play.”

Bagan are the defending champions and one of the title contenders of this season as well. Before playing them, Jamil appeared to take a cautiously optimistic approach to the game,

“Mohun Bagan is a good team that has good quality players. They have always done well in the I-League. We will have to play on top of our game if we hope to beat them.”
