Oscar Bruzon: Those who don’t believe it's possible have no room in Mumbai FC

IN HIS FIRST MEDIA APPEARANCE after being appointed as the Mumbai FC, Oscar Bruzon was accompanied by keeper Laximkant Kattmani.

In the very first question thrown at Oscar as to what made him take up the job, the Spaniard appeared a bit disturbed and replied sternly,

“Because we can do it!”

The Spaniard then added further,

“We are talking about the game today and not about the last. We are completely focussing on the game. Let’s talk about any circumstance that is going to happen tomorrow on the pitch”

In a short span of time how he has been able to translate his philosophy to the team, Oscar said that the question can be bettered answered by Kattimani and went on to say,

“The communication has been very clear. We are using different methodology called tools like videos, practice by lines etc.. we are approaching from all angles. All the angles are positive and the team is able to understand very well and we are doing everything to beat Churchill tomorrow”

Kattimani spoke how important this game was in the face of a relegation if beaten saying,

“Everyone knows we are going through bad phase but in football anything can happen. As the coach said, the team is ready and we will go out tomorrow and win the match”

Providing an update on the injury of Thoi Singh and Alex suffered in the practice game said,

“I wish we could give you answer. Depending on the practice and the report of from the physios tomorrow just before the game we will decide”

Speaking on the opponent, Oscar said

“First, they are the only Goan team in the I-League, so they best players and it is easy to analyse. Second they were champions of the I-League so when are competing they do well. Third they have Derick. When I was in Goa, I used to play against Derick many times. For me, he is the best Indian Coach currently. Finally they have a good set of foreigners up front.”

Oscar went on to say,

“To analyse Churchill tactically they are very dangerous in counter attack and when we give spaces to them in transitions. But if we can have the control the game through the ball and that should be our target. They are a tough team but from tomorrow Mumbai FC are also going to also be a tough team, ready to fight with anybody”

Oscar spoke about the preparation that he had to do in the break and build up to this game, he said,

“Apart from the tactical exercises and other technical things, the most important part has been the psychological part in the past two weeks. I want the guys to believe because I believe. I repeat this, every day in the last two weeks, who ever does not believe in this project that it is possible does not room to play with us. Management is confident we can do it, fans are confident, we as players and staff we are confident we can do it.”

He continued,

“One thing is very clear, we don’t want to put anything on the result because if we are talking about winning and results always, yes it is our target but forgetting that we have to focus on the process. And in the last two weeks this is the work we have done on the process when they this, we need to do this, if their defence is up then we do this. The evolution of process in the practices is excellent. I’m excited and I want 27 hours to pass very quickly and to see these guys perform”

Speaking on how much the home ground plays into the remaining four games, Kattimani shared,

“Yes it is an advantage because the fans are behind us. We hope to give our best”

Replying to a question if he has long term plans with Mumbai FC, Oscar said that his contract is for 45 days and his focus currently was on the Churchill game.
