Will bowl more short deliveries to unsettle ‘unbelievable’ Virat, says Jake Ball

ENGLAND PACEMAN JAKE BALL has stated that he will try to unsettle India skipper Virat Kohli by provoking him to hit in the air on short deliveries.

During the first ODI at Pune, Kohli struck a sensational 122 to guide his team to a 351-run chase. After languishing at 83-4, Kohli compiled a 200-run fifth wicket partnership alongside Kedar Jadhav to showcase a brilliant chase.

Speaking to BBC radio 5 live, Ball, who was the England’s most successful bowler in the first ODI (3-67) said that he will try to bowl short under the lights so that hosts misjudge the ball when it skids.

“I think that under the lights where it may skid on a bit more — you can use the shorter ball a little bit more… But I think it’s just trying to mix it up as much as you can… try not to let him get settled and hope he hits one up in the air.”

The 25-year-old divulged about having plans to dismiss Kohli and reckoned that they will try to pull it off in the match after couple of days of practice.

“He’s an unbelievable player. We saw a lot of him in the Tests and he started the ODI series really well. We’ve got plans for him and, hopefully, we can put them into practice in a couple of days’ time.”
