Dhoni becomes second most successful ODI captain with 108 wins

THE MEN IN BLUE put up another clinical performance against the Kiwis in the first ODI yesterday in Dharamsala. The emphatic six-wicket win has given the hosts a 1-0 lead over the visitors in the five-match series.

While MS Dhoni didn’t contribute much with the bat, the Indian skipper managed to add another feather to his already illustrious ODI cap. Dhoni registered his 108th win as the captain and in the process, also became the second most successful captain in the ODIs.

The 2011 World Cup winning skipper overtook former Australian skipper Allan Border who has 107 wins to his credit.

Currently, Dhoni is only behind another former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting in the all-time list. The former batting legend has captained Australia in 230 games and has won his country 165 ODIs in his span.

With not much ODI cricket lined-up for team India, it will be interesting to see how ‘captain cool’ will nudge the 2003 & 2007 World Cup winning captain.
