CSK will return to IPL in 2018 'without any external intervention', says N Srinivasan

FORMER BCCI PRESIDENT and owner of defunct IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, N Srinivasan, exuded confidence on his side’s return to IPL ‘without any external intervention’.

As reported by deccanchronicle, CSK boss said,

"At this moment we don’t have an IPL team in Chennai. But already one season is gone, one season is left after that automatically Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will come in without any intervention."

CSK are currently under a two-year suspension from the cash-rich tournament.

Srinivasan, who is also the head of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has recently announced Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) comprising of eight teams. The stalwart said that the idea of the new league was to nurture the state’s talent in the shorter format.

"The whole idea is to give an opportunity for players in Tamil Nadu to showcase themselves so they have better prospects in bigger tournaments that are being played today." 

Talking about selection of players in TNPL the former ICC chairman added, 


"We are not going to have an auction (for cricketers), but we'll have a draft system."
