Bopanna/Mergea progress to R3 of men’s doubles event in Paris
SIXTH SEEDS Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea beat Frenchmen Q Halys and G Barrere 6-3, 6-4 in round 2 of the men’s doubles event at Roland Garros today.
In the opener, the Indo-Romanian pair served well and managed to win some important on their first serve and broke their opponents once to seal the set.
In the second set, both teams suffered on their service games, but Bopanna/Mergea hung in there and got another decisive break to wrap up the match.
Bopanna/Mergea will now play M Daniell and B Baker in round 3.
Meanwhile, another Indian veteran Leander Paes too booked his place in round 3 alongside partner M Matkowski by beating the pair of F Mayer/J Knowles 6-4, 6-3.
