From cricket pitch to DSP’s office: 2007 WT20 hero Joginder Sharma’s swift role change

REMEMBER INDIA’S 2007 WORLD T20 WINNING BOWLER??? Yes, we are talking about Joginder Sharma here, who bowled the last over and helped the men in blue win the inaugural WT20.

While, Dhoni’s men enter the sixth edition of the World T20 as the overwhelming favourites, the 2007 hero has now a become Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the state of Haryana.

The 32-year-old represented the country in four ODIs and T20Is each, including the World T20 final against Pakistan. He scalped the final wicket of Misbah-ul-Haq who was going great guns, until he decided to scoop Sharma over short-fine leg only to find the safe hands of S Sreesanth. He returned with figures of 3/20 in three and a half overs.

The former Indian bowler also played the semi-final against Australia in the same tournament and picked up two wickets in four overs.

He also went on to play the inaugural IPL season in 2008, representing the now-banned Chennai Super Kings.
