Bumrah a good T20 bowler but beyond that I don't know: Aaqib Javed

PART OF THE FEARSOME PACE TRIO in the early 1990's, former Pakistan bowler and current UAE coach Aaqib Javed feels the Bangladeshi duo of Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman are more talented than India's Jasprit Bumrah. Every Indian cricket fan will remember how the former right-arm pacer took an ODI hat-trick against India at Sharjah in the final of the Wills Trophy in 1991, including career best figures of 7/37.

Now, continuing his attack on India and its latest find Bumrah, Javed said,

"Mustafiz and Taskin are both 20-year-olds and look at their quality. Taskin regularly hits 145 kmph mark and Mustafiz has such amazing variations. Bumrah at best is a fast medium bowler and team expects him to get a wicket or two and hurl a few in the blockhole at the death. Now that will make him a good Twenty20 bowler but beyond that I don't know.”

The 43-year old feels Bumrah's unusual action is injury-prone and will let him down in the long run.

"Bumrah's action is his main problem. During loading, this kind of action puts enormous strain on the back. This is an injury-prone action. With this kind of action, I don't see him playing 10 years of injury-free international cricket. I may be wrong as I am not an astrologer but that's how I feel," Aaqib told PTI during an interview.

Whether or not what Aaqib says is true, Bumrah has reached this level with the same action and to change his action at such a late stage might prove to be his downfall.
