Ankita Raina storms into the semis of Delhi USD 25000 ITF event
ANKITA RAINA is through to the semifinals of the Delhi USD 25000 ITF event after an impressive showing against Anna Morgina 6-2, 6-0 today. The Indian stuck to a steady baseline game and played consistent tennis to dismiss her Russian opponent in under an hour.
The combination of unforced errors from Morgina and some amazing shots from Raina ultimately decided the fate of the match.
Ankita is now the only Indian left in the ladies draw. The 23-year-old will now face Uzbekistan's Sabina Sharipova in the semis. After the win, Ankita told PTI,
"She could not take my speed. She was going for angles and cross. I was aggressive and quality of the shots was good.
I have to be in right position every time to hit those (deep) shots."
