It will take PSL three-four years to produce our own Kolhi’s and Sharma’s: Waqar

THE INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (IPL) has been a great platform for Indian cricketers to get into the national team over the years. Now, arch rivals Pakistan too, have finally launched their own Pakistan Super League (PSL) to help their domestic cricketers and future generation.

While the IPL has taken several cricketers from obscurity to fame, aspirations and expectations of Pakistan fans too will be on similar lines. However, their national coach and former pace legend Waqar Younis has cautioned their fans not to have too many expectations from the PSL in its first few years.

As reported by PTI, Waqar said,

"I think we shouldn't keep our expectations high from the PSL in its first year. It will take time say three to four years before we can expect this league to also give us the Virat Kohli's or Rohit Sharma's like the IPL did for India.”

"But we need to be patient and give it at least three to four years before we can expect the PSL to mould our young talent into international material players.”

Waqar also expressed his disappointment on how some Pakistani international cricketers have not been presented with regular opportunity to play in the ongoing PSL.

"I am a bit surprised that Babar Azam is not playing in all matches and Muhammad Irfan is not being tested out fully.”
