Somdev gets financial assistance of Rs. 35 lakh by sports ministry for tennis expenses

TENNIS PLAYER SOMDEV DEVVARMAN was approved of a financial assistance of Rs. 35 lakh by the sports ministry on Thursday for his travel, training and accommodation for the season ahead.

"The 'in-principle' approval of the Competent Authority for financial assistance of Rs. 35 lakh from National Sports Development Fund ( NSDF) has been granted for training during the year 2016," a ministry release said.

Somdev, who has recently hired a new coach is struggling on the ATP tour and his ranking has dipped to 186.
