Somdev, Ramkumar withdraw from the upcoming Delhi Open

TENNIS PLAYERS Somdev Devvarman and upcoming Indian star, Ramkumar Ramanathan are set to miss the upcoming Delhi Open which starts on February 15.

Due to his withdrawal, Somdev won't be able to defend the title this year.

"I am not playing Delhi Open this year," Somdev told PTI.

Stating his reason Somdev said," There is no specific reason. Just scheduling was tougher."

He has not lost a single match at the DLTA courts since the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and playing here would have helped him boost the rankings which has crashed down to 186.

On the other hand, Ramkumar will miss the event due to his wildcard entry at the ATP 250 event in Marseille, France in the same week.

Among the players who will be seen in the tournament include Yuki Bhambri (100) who is the highest-ranked Indian player along with Saketh Myneni (175) and Sanam Singh (277).

N Sriram Balaji earned a wild card entry into the tournament by winning the national championship in 2015. Vishnu Vardhan, being the finalist has got a wild card for the qualifiers.

However, the DLTA is yet to announce wild cards for the main draw.
