Rivalry with Roger and Rafa has helped me become the player I am today: Djokovic

WORLD NO.1 Novak Djokovic is arguably playing the best tennis ever seen on the men’s circuit. His rivalry with World no.3 Roger Federer and World no.5 Rafael Nadal has been of epic proportions. Furthermore, the Serb’s dominance of the Swiss and the Spaniard in the recent past has certainly been the talking point in the ATP circuit.

However, the five-time Australian Open champion feels that it has been the rivalry with legends Federer and Nadal that has made him a better player over the years.

As reported by tennisworldusa, Djokovic said,

“I’ve played these guys (Federer and Nadal) on so many different occasions. I've battled them for the biggest titles in sport. These two guys also made me the player I am today. I think these rivalries have allowed me to grow and to evolve and to get strong and tough and understand what it takes to be on the level that they are on.”

The 29-year-old further added,

“They have been dominating tennis before Andy Murray and myself came along for many years. It took a while to get in the mix. Took a lot of matches to actually level the head-to-head against both guys."
