Yadlapalli beats Aikawa to move into round 2 in the girls’ event at Australian Open
INDIA’S PRANJALA YADLAPALLI has kicked off her Australian Open campaign with a win over Mayuka Aikawa 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 in the first round of the girl’s singles event in Melbourne today.
Yadlapalli only hit 25 winners in comparison to her opponents' 27, but the Indian also committed 34 unforced errors, while Aikawa came up with 47.
In the end, the 16-year-old won 102 points to progress to round two, where she will play Mira Antonitsch.
