Pranjala, Raina, Bhambri, in quarterfinals of Aurangabad Open Womens ITF Championships
FIFTH SEEDED Ankita Raina, National Champion Prerna Bhambri and qualifier Pranjala Yadlapalli entered the quarterfinals of the singles event at the $25000 Endurance Aurangabad Open Women's ITF Championships being played at the EMMTC school of tennis courts in Aurangabad today.
In the second round matches played today fifth seeded Ankita Raina the highest ranked Indian came back from being 1-6 down in the second tiebreaker to register. 6-0 ,7-6(7) win over SnehaDevi Reddy in a 2 hour match. In the match between other Indian players national champion Prerna Bhambri made heavy weather of her match against Dhruti Venugopal losing the second set , but recovered to win 6-2,5-7,6-1 and make it to the last eight.
Youngest player of the event and qualifier Pranjala Yadlapalli outplayed Rishika Sunkara 6-4,6-2 to make her first quarterfinal of her career at this level.
Top seeded Valeriya Strakhova of Ukraine outplayed Russian Margarita Lazareva 6-1,6-2 to make the last eight stage , she will take on eighth seeded Ching-Wen Hsu of Taipei who registered. 6-2,6-1 win over Thailand's Nicha Lertpitaksinchai .
Russian Ekaterina Yashina upset another Thai and sixth seeded Nudnida Luangnam 6-1,2-6,6-3 and will now meet Bhambri in the last eight. Seventh seeded French Lou Brouleau took just over 1 hour to dispose off Riya Bhatia 6-2,6-3 and will take on Pranjala Yadlapalli in the quarter finals.
Second seeded Tadeja Majeric played unusual match winning 6-0,0-6,6-0 against Taipei's Pei -Chi Lee , the 269th ranked Majeric will take on Raina in the quarter finals tomorrow.
