Manoj Prabhakar joins Inzi's Afghanistan team as new bowling coach ahead of World T20

FORMER INDIAN ALL-ROUNDER Manoj Prabhakar has been appointed as the bowling coach of the Afghanistan T20 squad. He will be working alongside former Pakistan captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq, who is the head coach of the Afghan team.

Prabhakar, who used opened the Indian batting as well as bowling in test and ODI for a record number of times, used to bowl right arm medium pace. He has represented India in 39 tests and 130 ODIs.

He has undertaken coaching roles in the past. He has been the head coach of the Rajasthan team. But his last tenure, as the coach of Delhi, was cut short when he spoke out publicly against the players and the selectors.

That was back in 2011. He has not coached in a professional capacity since then.

Afghanistan are slated to play the World T20 in India next year, and the appointment of an Indian bowling coach will prove valuable to them; due to his extensive knowledge of the pitches and conditions.

The Afghans have been sorted into Group B in the World T20, where they are joined by Hong Kong, Zimbabwe and Scotland.
