Amla disappointed at losing Test series; says three-day matches are difficult

SOUTH AFRICA skipper Hashim Amla was very disappointed at losing the third Test as well as the series to India in Nagpur on Friday, adding that they should be fighting "honourably".

India beat South Africa by 124 runs to win the third Test at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, in effect also winning the four-match series 2-0. The home side had won in Mohali before the Bengaluru tie was washed out by incessant rain.

"Obviously very disappointing. It was a hard game. Whether we win or lose, we have to fight honourably and well done to the guys," said a dejected Amla.

"We tried to dig deep as long as we can. The pitch was a difficult factor, it was turning and bouncing whether the new ball or the old one. Three-day matches are difficult."

The fourth and the final Test will be played at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi from December 3 to 7.

South Africa had gone nine years and 15 away trips without losing a series before going down here to end the streak.
