Simply Viru! Sing a song, whack the ball

INDIAN CRICKET FANS must be well aware of the fact that Virender Sehwag likes to sing a few lines while wielding his willow. During his playing days, the former Indian opener expressed his views on how singing helped him relieve the stress and focus on the next delivery.

As they say, old habits die hard, and Sehwag was once again spotted humming a popular Bollywood song while batting for Sachin’s Blasters against Warne’s Warriors in the second game of the All Stars T20 series.

Entertaining the fanatical crowd in Houston in typical Sehwag fashion, the Nawab of Najafgarh was blazing away in pursuit of a daunting target. Suddenly, in the second over, Sehwag started humming the famous lines “Chala Jaata Hoon Kisi Ke Dhoon Me“, while facing former team mate, Ajit Agarkar.

Although, the crowd in the stadium were far from hearing anything, fans watching back home were lucky to hear Sehwag sing. Unfortunately, Sehwag’s sing and swing was stopped after the opener dragged a ball from Agarkar back onto his stumps.

In the end, as many India fans might have said, “Gaana Gaya, Chala Jaata Hoon aur Chala Hi Gaya, Seedhe Pavilion.”
