Aryan Goveas on course for a double bonanza at AITA Pune Open

MAHARASHTRA'S NO.1 SINGLES PLAYER, Aryan Goveas stormed into the men’s singles final of AITA Pune Open, All India Ranking Tennis Tournament at the Deccan Gymkhana on Friday by defeating local boy, Jayesh Pungalia 6-2, 6-4.

Goveas broke Pungalia's serve thrice in the match and continued to swing hard from the baseline. In the end, Goveas’ consistent hitting made all the difference.

Later on, Goveas also teamed up with veteran Nitin Kirtane to win the doubles title after beating second seeds S D Prajwal Dev and Suraj Prabodh of Karnataka 6-0, 6-4.

Goveas also made his ATP challenger debut in the recently concluded KPIT challenger in Pune. Although the Indian fought valiantly for two hours, the experience of Germain Gigounon stopped Goveas from many any further progress.

Goveas will take on Tejas Chaukulkar in the finals on Saturday and will hope to add to his doubles title.
