Nagal/Vardhan beat fellow Indians Bendre/Jayaprakash to enter R2 of Pune ATP Challenger
WINNERS EARLIER IN SINGLES, Sumit Nagal and Vishnu Vardhan have beaten fellow Indians Anvit Bendre and Mohit Jayaprakash 7-6(1), 6-4 in the first round of the doubles at the KPIT ATP challenger in Pune today.
The Nagal/Vardhan pair fired 6 aces without serving any double-faults. The more experienced pair also won a high percentage of points on the first and second serve. In the end, Nagal/Vardhan shut the door on their opponents in an hour and 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, the Sood brothers, Chandril and Lakshit lost a close encounter to Spaniards Adrian-Menendez Maceiras and Gerard Granollers 6-3, 6-7(5), 5-10 in an hour and 35 minutes.
Although Chandril/Lakshit did well to win the first set, a few errors at crucial junctures cost them the match and the super tie-break.
Indians Nagal/Vardhan and Spaniards Maceiras/Granollers will clash in their next round on Wednesday.
