CURRENT WORLD NO.99 and seed one, Yuki Bhambri will take on fellow Indian and wildcard, Anvit Bendre, in the opening round of the KPIT ATP Challenger tournament in Pune today.

Bhambri is expected to sail through the first few rounds and is drawn in the same half as Yannick Mertens from Belgium. And, both the seeded players could lock horns in the quarter-finals.

India’s no.2 singles player, semi-finalist from Bengaluru challenger, Saketh Myneni will face Belarusian Ilya Ivashka in the opener, while his doubles partner Sanam Singh will take on Alessandro Bega.

Meanwhile, a struggling Somdev Devvarman is slated to play against Maxime Janvier of France and wildcard Vishnu Vardhan will take on Egor Gerasimov of Belarus. Ramkumar Ramnathan is drawn to play against Spaniard Gerrard Granollers.

The current Wimbledon Juniors doubles champion, Sumit Nagal will start his campaign against fellow Indian and qualifier Purav Raja.

All eyes will be on the upcoming sensation from Mumbai, Aryan Goveas who will make his debut in the ATP challengers and will clash against Belgian Germain Gigounon.

In the doubles event, Purav Raja and his Russian partner Alexander Kudryavtsev are the top seeds and will face a tricky opening round as they take on wildcards John Fruttero (USA) and Vijay Sundar Prashanth (IND) finalists in Bengaluru last week.

Second seeds and winners at Bengaluru, Myneni and S Singh have been drawn to take on Belarusian pair of Gerasimov and IIvashka.
