Venkatesh Prasad clarifies controversial post, says he was referring to poor ticketing system

A TWEET BY former Indian medium pacer Venkatesh Prasad kicked up a storm when many assumed he was taking a dig at BCCI Secretary and ACC President Jay Shah. But he was quick to delete it and clarified that he was not referring to any BCCI official personally.

Although the tweet did not name anyone, it talked about how one corrupt person has ruined the reputation of an entire organisation.

Prasad's deleted tweet

The tweet was posted around the time when a controversial decision by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had caused accusations of favouritism. The ACC had announced that only the India vs Pakistan match in the ongoing Asia Cup would have a reserve day, prompting many to say this would put other teams at a disadvantage in case of rain washing out their matches.

So when Prasad tweeted around the same time, many assumed it was related to the ACC and the Asia Cup controversy.

However, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore coach said the tweet was about a different subject altogether. Talking to PTI, he said,

"Nothing personal. Just a clear observation and many people have expressed displeasure at the way ticketing is, fans as well as friends from overseas... there are many things which the BCCI is doing right, like eqequal pay for men and women, but I truly believe they haven't handled the World Cup ticketing schedule well, and this has brought a lot of inconvenience and heartbreak for genuine fans."

However, he did not disclose who the "one guy" being referred to in the tweet was.
