Former Sri Lanka player Sachithra Senanayake arrested on match fixing charges
SACHITHRA SENANAYAKE, A FORMER international cricketer from Sri Lanka, has been arrested by the country's police on match fixing charges.
The former Kolkata Knight Riders player has been accused of trying to fix matches during the 2020 edition of Lanka Premier League.
He allegedly contacted several players taking part in the competition and tried to convince them to participate in the corrupt activity.
He was under investigation for over a month, during which a court order had banned him from travelling. The arrest comes as a conclusion of that investigative process.
