ICC World Cup ticket website crashes due to too much traffic

IT WAS PERHAPS inevitable.

When the ticket sale for the ICC World Cup 2023 began, fans rushed to the online portal to secure their seats at cricket's most anticipated event in the history of the sport.

But what they were left with was nothing but a crashed website.

Frustrated, the fans vented their anger at the BCCI. But this was probably to be expected, since the fan interest in tickets for this edition far exceeds any expectations that ICC or BCCI had.

Long before the tickets were released, hotels in Ahmedabad completely sold out due to the anticipation fans had for the game. They wanted to have their hotel stay ready just in case they got hold of a ticket to the holy grail of all cricket rivalries.

So the ticket selling website is less of an indication of poor preparations, and more of a sign that the ICC World Cup 2023 is going to be more successful than anyone imagined.

BCCI will have to worry more about tickets being re-sold for extravagant prices in the black market than any crashed website along the way.
