Fire in Eden Gardens’ dressing room during CWC 2023 renovation

A FIRE BROKE OUT at a team dressing room in the Eden Gardens, which is scheduled to host multiple important ICC Cricket World Cup matches.

The fire started last night, and the fire department had to be called in to deal with it. They took about an hour to gain control over it. It took place in an area that was being renovated for the upcoming World Cup.

There seems to have been no major structural damage resulting from the fire. Renovation work in the stadium continued today largely uninterrupted.

The CAB President Sourav Ganguly informed reporters that there would be an investigation to see whether the fire was accidental or started intentionally.

The ICC will visit the stadium on September 1 to check whether the iconic arena is ready for the world championship. The renovation work - including at the dressing room where the fire took place - is expected to be completed well before that date.
