LPL 2023: Jaffna Kings return to form, beat Colombo by six wickets

JAFFNA KINGS BROKE back into the playoffs race with a win over Colombo Strikers.

The three time Lanka Premier League champions came into this match with back to back losses, and needed to get a win to be in the top four.

Colombo batted first and they could hardly get going. Dunith Wellalage (2/9) and Dilshan Madushanka (2/23) kept a tight lid on the innings; and Pathum Nissanka's resistance effort (36 off 25) could not take the Strikers beyond 146/8.

Jaffna chased it down with more than 5 overs to spare, with Nishan Madushanka (46 off 32) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 off 21) overcame an effective spell from Naseem Shah (2/22) and got them to a convincing 6 wicket victory.

From 6 matches, Jaffna now have 6 points; and they stand a chance to turn their form around in the playoffs if they keep up this rhythm.
