Lanka Premier League 2023: Hasaranga guts Galle, takes Kandy to the top of the table

B-LOVE KANDY absolutely dominanted Galle Titans in Lanka Premier League, capturing their third win in a row.

This victory has propelled them to the very top of the LPL points table.

Batting first, Kandy was led by stormy spells from Wahindu Hasaranga (64 off 27), Fakhar Zaman (45 off 35) and Angelo Mathews (40 off 23). Despite the best efforts of Lahiru Samarakoon (2/31), they reached a formidable 203/5.

Galle would not only fall short of this target but suffer a major batting collapse as Hasaranga (4/17) would once again single handedly deliver the victory to Kandy, helped by Nuwan Pradeep (3/21) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/26). Although Samarakoon (36 off 25) and Lasith Croospulle (27 off 17) would try to fight back, they would fall too and Galle's innings would end at just 114.

Kandy are now at 6 points from 5 matches, at the top of the points table. And this massive 89 run win has also boosted their Net Run Rate by quite a bit; making for an incredible comeback story for the team that was almost written off by cricket fans after two back to back losses.
