BCCI turned a blind eye, says CABI chairman; plea for money to grow differently abled cricket

THE RICHEST CRICKET board in the world seems to have turned a blind eye to their promises made to the CABI.

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), which was promised financial help by the BCCI, seems to have been left in the lurch.

GK Mahantesh, the CABI chairman, said in a press conference that,

“The BCCI had asked us to constitute the DCCI (Differently Abled Cricket Council of India) which we did. But we are not getting financial support from the BCCI, though we have their moral support as they assist us by arranging venues for our matches. We had received assurances from the sports minister about more support following our title triumph in the 2022 T20 Blind World Cup at Bengaluru, but nothing has happened so far."

The CABI has sought financial help from the board again, especially as it is sending its men's and women's teams to the IBSA World Games which will commence on August 19 in Birmingham.

With the amount of money generated by cricket in this country, one would have expected BCCI to be at the forefront of helping the sport break past new boundaries; especially among those who have not been able to participate in it in the past.
