Lanka Premier League: Galle Titans tame Kandy, rise to the top of the table

GALLE TITANS BEAT B-Love Kandy in dominant fashion to claim the top spot in Lanka Premier League today.

After a super over win following a tie match with Dambulla Giants in their season debut, Galle left no doubts about their title contender status as they handed Kandy their second loss in a row.

Batting first, the Titans put together a formidable 180/5, thanks to Tim Seifert playing a hailstorm of an innings of 74 off 39, which included 5 fours and 5 sixes, overcoming Muhammad Hasnain (1/26) and Wanindu Hasaranga's (1/27) efforts to contain them to a smaller total.

But it was the bowlers who delivered the victory for Galle. Because Kasun Rajitha (2/8) and Richard Ngarava (2/15) tore apart their top order, leaving them 36/5 after the first 6 overs.

The match was practically over right rhre, and Ashen Bandara's fighting 27 off 19 wasn't enough to turn things around. They were all out for just 97, handing the Titans a massive win by 83 runs.

This win has taken Galle to the top of the table, with 4 points from 2 matches. Kandy, who are still winelss, are at the bottom.

Both Galle and Kandy will return to action on Friday, 4th August, against Jaffna Kings and Dambulla Aura respectively.
