WATCH: Snake interrupts Lanka Premier League match, fourth umpire to the rescue

THE LANKA PREMIER LEAGUE saw an ongoing match interrupted due to an over-enthusiastic fan who slid past security into the field.

In this case, the "slid past" part is a rather literal description, because the fan in question was a six foot snake.

Once on the field, the shiny, sleek serpent serveyed the scenery in a serene manner as players stood still in surprise.

The unexpected visitor appeared to be keen on taking a fiedling position near deep mid wicket but after repeated requests from the fourth umpire it made its way towards the area where players' kit bags were kept.

At press time, it was not yet known in whose bag the snake ended up in. Stay tuned for further details about a potential team hotel evacuation.

While not a snake, but animals have interrupted sports in India as well. Years ago, the Calcutta Football League experienced a monkey problem where the feral apes interrupted matches several times and even attacked players until they were driven away with firecrackers.

Compared to that, the LPL snake was a gentle visitor indeed.
