Venkatesh Prasad criticises Indian cricket's complacence with 'mediocrity'

FORMER INDIAN CRICKETER and coach Venkatesh Prasad has had it with Team India under-performing in limited over cricket.

Reacting to India's poor display against West Indies in the second ODI, he took to Twitter to express his frustration, saying that in India we have become used to "celebrating mediocrity."

His comments ring particularly true, with pivotal ODI competitions like Asia Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup being just around the corner.

However, his evaluation of India's recent performance may be slightly off as Team India are using the West Indies series to expermient with their strategy; as they are likely to continue doing against Ireland, before putting on their game face at the Asia Cup as they build up to the World Cup.

Trying out variations and different strategies is common in the lead up to the big tournaments where the stakes are significantly higher.

Only time will tell if he is proved to be right.
