Stuart Broad announces retirement in the middle of 5th Ashes Test

STUART BROAD TOOK everyone by surprise by announcing his retirement in the middle of the ongoing Ashes test match.

At the end of day 3, Broad said during a television interview,

"I've always wanted to finish at the top, and this series just feels like it's been one of the most enjoyable I've been part of... I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks ... you know, England versus Australia has always been sort of the pinnacle for me."

Broad has represented England in 165 Tests, 121 ODIs and 56 T20 international matches over the last 17 years. He is 37 years old now.

It's not clear whether he is stepping down from international cricket or all forms of cricket.

If it's the former, he may finally get to make his long awaited IPL debut; something he has not been able to do due to England's hectic international schedule.
