Major League Cricket Playoffs HIGHLIGHTS: MI New York knock out Washington Freedom

MI NEW YORK knocked out Washington Freedon from the Major League Cricket playoffs today, bringing themselves one step away from the grand finale.

Batting first, New York didn't have the best of innings. They kept losing wickets regularly and had trouble scoring runs off Saurabh Netravalkar (2/25), Marco Jansen (1/12) and Akeal Hosein (1/24).

Drewald Brevis (57 off 41) was the only standout performer for them and Tim David (23 off 12) did his part as well, to get them to 141/7 in 20 overs.

Washington had a golden opportunity to chase down a fairly gettable target. But they weren't ready for what was about to happen.

Other than Marco Jansen (28 off 18) and Andries Gous (24 off 25) no one could have an impact for them. The whole innings was a show starring Trent Boult (4/20) and Nosthush Kenjige (2/19) who brough their opponents to heel, restricting them to just 125/9.

It was one of the best bowling performances in this Major League Cricket season, and it came when New York had their back to the wall, about to be knocked out of the competition.

With this memorable win, MI New York will now face Texas Super Kings in the de-facto second semi-final match. The winner will face Seattle Orcas in the grand finale.
