ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Three teams want schedule change, fans worry about travel plans

THREE MAJOR TEAMS HAVE asked for changes in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedules.

Speaking to media, BCCI General Secretary Jay Shah said that all three of these teams are full members of the ICC, and their requests for changes in the fixtures are unrelated to the mega clash between India & Pakistan.

Earlier, there were that the clash of the arch rivals, scheduled for 15th October, may be pre-poned by a day to avoid clashing with the first day of the Navratri festival, because the Ahmedabad police would have trouble with the pressure on their personnel maintaining security.

However, Shah denied that there was any issue with the security at all around the India vs Pakistan match.

Meanwhile, fans who are planning to travel from far distances to attend the mega India vs Pakistan match are not happy with the news of a potential date change. The founder of the Bharat Army, the renowned Indian cricket fan club, told India Today,

"I'm sure you're aware costs are already high for the India v Pakistan match and some fans who booked hotels and flights without a date change option to get the cheapest prices - they don't have the option to get a refund so this will create a further challenge."

Shah's statement will likely bring some relief to the travelling fans. However, until the organizers confirm that the fixtures are final, nothing is certain as to which matches may be moved around in the schedule.
