Major League Cricket HIGHLIGHTS: MI New York bounce back, beat Washington Freedom

MI NEW YORK RETURNED to form today, with a massive win over Washington Freedom.

Washington, batting first, put on a score of 160/6. Glenn Phillips (47 off 35) and Moises Henriques (32 off 30) put in a good shift out there but Kieron Pollard (2/33) and Nosthush Kenjige (1/19) made sure the runs didn't get out of manageable levels.

Although the total was nothing to scoff at, New York chased it down in just 15.3 overs, thanks to Nicholas Pooran (62 not out off 33) expertly steering the innings.

This loss robbed Washington off their chance to go to the top of te table, and returned New York to the third spot. The playoff race remains as tight as ever with the top five teams being separated just 2 points; which means 1 match can upturn the entire league's equations.

New York will face current table toppers Seattle Orcas next; and their task, although uphill, would be to ensure a place in the top four with a win.
