From one legend to another: Rahul Dravid praises Virat Kohli for achieving 500 international caps

RAHUL DRAVID HAS hailed Virat Kohli ahead of his 500th international match.

When India took to the pitch this evening against West Indies, the 34 year old officially reached that enviable landmark. And there seem to be many more such milestones ahead of him.

Speaking to journalists, Dravid said,

"His numbers and stats speak for itself, his performances - it's all there in the book. But I think for me what's great to see first hand is the effort and work he puts behind the scenes when no one's watching. That's reflecting in the fact that he's going to be playing 500 games... he's still very strong, very fit, the energy and enthusiasm despite playing 500 games and being around here for 12-13 years now, it's truly fantastic. That's not come easy, that's come because of a lot of hard work behind the scenes, lot of sacrifices that he has made through his career and he's willing to continue to make. That's something that is great for a coach, you can see a lot of young players will look to that and be inspired by that."

Coming from Dravid, who himself had a long career in international cricket and is considered to be a legend of the sport, those words carry a lot of significance.

Virat Kohli's form seems to have gotten better over time, as he has achieved the record of scoring the fastest 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000 and 12000 runs in ODIs. And he is well on track for the next few records with 2023 being a big year for ODIs.
