India will not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup, confirms IPL Chairman

IPL CHAIRMAN Arun Dhumal has denied reports that the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 matches.

Recently, after an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting was held to finalise the Asia Cup schedule, reports emerged from Pakistani media that India would play Pakistan in that country. But Dhumal, at an ICC event in South Africa, told PTI,

"There was no such discussion held. Neithre India is travelling to Pakistan nor our secretary will be travelling contrary to reports that have surfaced. Only the schedule was finalised."

The BCCI have always maintained that India would not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup matches. To accommodate their stance, ACC earlier decided that the Asia Cup would be held in a hybrid model with most matches being held in Sri Lanka, instead of being hosted entirely in Pakistan as was the original plan.
