Hardik Pandya can't handle test cricket but should captain in limited overs, says Ravi Shastri

RAVI SHASTRI HAS made a comment about Hardik Pandya that has built him up and criticised him at the same time.

Talking to The Week, the former Indian cricketer and national team head coach said that while Pandya should be a leading figure for limited over cricket, he was not fit for test matches,

"Let's be clear. His body cannot cope with Test cricket. After the World Cup, I feel he should take over captaincy in white-ball cricket. Rohit should lead India in the World Cup, no question there."

The comment puts into context the selectors' decision to include him in the ODI team for the upcoming West Indies series, but not in the Test team; despite a number of non-regulars being included in the squad.

Pandya has played 11 test matches for India, and has not appeared in that format for the national team since 2018.
