WATCH: Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly have candid discussion about India's loss at WTC final

COACH RAHUL DRAVID WAS candid about the Indian team's losing performance at the ICC World Test Championship final.

In a post-match segment on Star Sports where he was joined by former teammates Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh, he dissected why India failed to clinch the ICC Test Mace despite putting on a strong performance over two years to get to the final.

When Sourav pointed out that the team's top order has been underperforming in overseas conditions, Rahul accepted his point but mentioned that pitch conditions have gotten tougher for batting everywhere and many international teams have seen their top batters' average fall.

Howver, he made sure to clarify that he was not making any excuses for the loss, regardless of how many circumstances have not gone the team's way in the lead up to the match,

"As a coach, I will never be content with the preparations. However, it's the reality we are faced with... the schedules are so cramped and tight. I mean, these guys know... if you are here three weeks before the tour, if you play two side games, we are going to be better prepared. But, you know, we don't have that situation out here. We've got to do what we can. So excuses, no complaints. I just want to congratulate Australia. They played better than us us in five days. I don't think we should make complaints, we need to look at ourselves and see how we can get better."

Dravid was appointed as the head coach of the national team back in November 2021, and since then, India have won test series against the likes of Australia and New Zealand at home but lost to South Africa when playing away.
