THE AFGHANISTAN CRICKET TEAM put on a feeble defence against Australia as the defending champions easily overcame them to start their title defence with a win.
Batting first, Afghanistan lost all their wickets for 207. A few batsmen tried to stabilize the innings including Najibullah Zadran (51 off 49), Rahmat Shah (43 off 60) and Gulbadin Naib (31 off 33). But Pat Cummings and Adam Zampa picked up 3 wickets each, making a quick work of wrapping Afghanistan up in just 38.2 overs.
Australia chased down Afghanistan's total in just 34.5 overs. David Warner (89* off 114) and Aaron Finch (66 off 49) made sure the Baggy Greens faced no difficulty in getting the job done.
