Impressed with Bumrah's pace and swing, says Allan Donald

SOUTH AFRICA GREAT Allan Donald heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah following the paceman’s performance in the first two Tests against Proteas.

Bumrah, who drew praise for his performance in the ODIs and T20I, made his Test debut in South Africa. As quoted by Circle of Cricket, Donald divulged that he was surprised to skills of the youngster. He also said that he was surprised to see that Bhuvneshwar Kumar was kept out of the second Test.

“The guy who is making all the noise is Bumrah. I am impressed with him. He is quick, accurate and does things with the ball. I was surprised Bhuvneshwar, who is skillful, was left out of the eleven for the second Test.”

Donald also reckoned that Indian batsmen were outplayed by the hosts.

“In India, there is hardly any movement off the seam and bounce. So, when the Indian batsmen come here and play in a pitch like Newlands, the South African pacemen find out their footwork with fuller length deliveries and the off and the fourth stumps.”

The third and the final Test between India and South Africa will be played in Johannesburg starting on Wednesday, January 24.
