Magnanimous Wasim Jaffer forgoes professional fee for 2017-18 Ranji season

VETERAN BATSMAN Wasim Jaffer has displayed a magnanimous gesture by forgoing his professional fee for the 2017-18 season. His gesture has been appreciated by the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA).

As reported by The Hindu, Jaffer’s fee runs into several lakhs of rupees. Following a 19-year stint with Mumbai, he signed a two-year contract with VCA for two seasons (2015-16, 16-17). The Mumbai-lad played the 2015-16 season, but a knee injury ruled him out for the second season. However, the VCA paid his fee as per the contract.

Before the start of the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy season that ended with Vidarbha winning the title, Jaffer wrote to the VCA saying he has decided to forego the professional fee and will take only the BCCI match fee.
