Kohli, Dhoni and Shastri’s pay hike meeting with CoA gets postponed

FOLLOWING THIS YEAR’S pay hike, the BCCI pays INR 2 crore to Grade A players, INR 1 crore to Grade B players and INR 50 lakhs to Grade C players. However, it is learnt that Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Ravi Shastri had demanded pay hikes after observing the increased revenues of the BCCI in connection with the IPL between 2018 and 2023.

In a recent meeting held between the CoA and the team’s veterans, the former had accepted the pay hike demands on the basis of ‘common grounds.’ Kohli had also raised concerns over the cramped scheduling of matches. To which, the CoA had mentioned they would look into the matter.

However, it appears that the follow-up meeting between Kohli, Dhoni, Shastri and the CoA, that was scheduled to be held immediately, has been postponed. CoA chief Vinod Rai had asked the BCCI officials to provide him the exact pay structure and system BCCI has thought through for the players. The other reason for the postponement is understood to be the disparity between the payment figures and facts.

It is understood that during the first meeting, the players were not given a clear picture of the payment structure. But, when asked for clarity on the matter, even the BCCI officials were unsure.
