CATASTROPHE: Where is the game of cricket heading?

LET ME START by extracting the first two lines of a famous song written by Lord Beginner- a popular Calypsonian in the 1950s.
"Cricket lovely Cricket,
At Lord's where I saw it;
Cricket lovely Cricket,
At Lord's where I saw it."
Although growing up as a young boy in the early 90s, the memory of Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, West Indies and the re-admitted South African team is still fresh in my memory, it was the atmosphere at Lord's that actually forced me to surrender to the sport. I vividly remember watching on TV, the debut of Indian maestros Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly at the 'home of cricket' in 1996. Since then, cricket has been a way of life for me, like many other Indians.
