The current Test team has the right bowling combination to win overseas, says Shastri

NEWLY APPOINTED India head coach Ravi Shastri has reckoned that the current Test team led by Virat Kohli can prove to be better than any of the teams India has ever produced. The former team India director was appointed as the chief coach following a formal procedure conducted by the BCCI’s CAC.

Shastri believes that the current squad has the right combination of bowling attack that will guide India to success overseas. As reported by PTI, he expressed his confidence in the team and said,

"It can be a better Test team than any Indian team we have had. This is a team you can travel with. There is a battery of pacers which can do well in all conditions. Their age is such that they are playing at the right time."

When asked whether he is ready to face challenges that come along with the top job, the 55-year-old said,

"I have always relished a challenge and I am looking forward to my stint with India. When you are asked to open the batting in overcast conditions, it is a challenge. I am used to challenges, bring on another one."

When asked about his equation with former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, Shastri added, 

"We are two former captains (Sourav Ganguly), there will be arguments. But there is mutual respect."
