BCCI appoints Shastri as head coach, Dravid as overseas batting consultant, Zaheer as bowling coach

AFTER A LOT of hullabaloo around the appointment of new India head coach, the BCCI announced the name and put an end to endless rumours. 

While appointing Ravi Shastri as India’s chief coach, the board also appointed Rahul Dravid as overseas batting consultant. On the other hand, the BCCI also appointed Zaheer Khan as India’s bowling coach.

Shastri edged past Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, and Tom Moody to take up the lucrative top job. Shastri’s appointment came after the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman conducted interviews of the aforementioned candidates. In an official press release, BCCI president CK Khanna confirmed the development and said,

“The BCCI announces the appointment of Mr. Ravi Shastri as the Head Coach, Mr. Zaheer Khan as the Bowling Consultant and Mr. Rahul Dravid who will be the Overseas Batting Consultant (Test cricket) for the Indian Cricket Team.”

It is known that the term of the appointments will be till the World Cup 2019.
