After the disastrous 2007 World Cup, many senior members of the team pulled out of the inaugural edition of the WT20 in South Africa. In fact, a reluctant Indian team was forced to participate in the tournament and under Dhoni surprised one and all by winning the trophy in an epic final against Pakistan at Johannesburg.
