Mumbai Indians to play IPL opener without the services of Malinga and Gunaratne

MUMBAI INDIANS will engage in their opening game of 10th edition of IPL without the services of Lasith Maling and Asela Gunaratne.

The Mumbai franchise will face Rising Pune Supergiant in Pune on April 6. As reported by TOI, the Sri Lankan duo will feature in the final T20I against Bangladesh on the same day.

Malinga, who missed IPL 2016 due to a knee injury, missed all the international action before featuring in a T20 series against Australia in February this year. The 33-year-old is IPL's leading wicket-taker with 143 wickets in 98 matches at an average of 17.8. Gunaratne, who was purchased by MI for Rs 30 lakh during the IPL 2017 player auction, has played seven T20Is and has scored two fifties in them.

Meanwhile, the BCCI medical team gave a green signal to Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya and declared the duo fully fit.
