Sri Lankan great Jayawardena dismisses reports of a potential coaching stint with India

AHEAD OF CT17, the BCCI had invited applications for the post of India head coach with a deadline of May 30. However, after Anil Kumble’s decision to step down from the top job on June 20, the board opened another window for new applicants.

Following the legendary leggie’s resignation, the big names to be linked to the India head coach role were only Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody. And recently, there were reports stating that Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardena too had thrown his hat into the ring.

However, Jayawardena took to his Twitter account to quash all rumours. The batting maestro said that he is flattered to have been linked to the Indian coaching role but he is currently focussed on working with Mumbai Indians and Khulna Titans.
