TRAGEDY: How Jason Roy became the first batsman in T20I to be given out obstructing the field

YESTERDAY, in the second T20 between England and South Africa at Taunton, opener Jason Roy became the first batsman in T20I to be given out obstructing the field. Although the Englishman is turning out to be a devastating batsman in limited overs cricket, he won't be proud to see his name on this infamous list.

The incident occurred in the 16th over while the hosts were comfortably cruising through in pursuit of 171. As soon as debutant Liam Livingstone guided the ball to point region off Chris Morris' bowling that saw Roy half way through the pitch. Upon Livingstone's lack of interest to complete the run, Roy had to make way back to his crease. Unfortunately, Roy chose to change his direction and ended up coming in the way of the throw.

Immediately, the Proteas appealed with conviction and soon the on-field umpires sent the final decision to the television umpire. Finally, Roy was ruled out for obstructing the field, which drew a negative response from the crowd at Taunton.

After South Africa pulled off a sensational win last night, the two teams will play the decider on Sunday.
